About Me
My name is Mary Shoemaker. I have been teaching in WCSD for the last 15 years. Currently, I am a Assessment Project Specialist where I manage our assessment systems and help teachers with administering assessments. Prior to teaching in Reno, I lived in Southern California where I taught computers at the junior high level for 10 years and then an additional two years solely dedicated to technology staff development for teachers and classified staff at my former school district. Oh yes, I also taught 3rd, 4th grades, and even a combo class during my first year of teaching.
I decided to do this website to provide a resource for teachers who want to integrate technology with their class curriculum. I appreciate any suggestions that you have for improvement to this site. Now, a little bit about computers at Sun Valley. I taught all grade levels, K-6, and everything that I did in the lab was aligned with each grade level's curriculum. I saw kindergartners for 1/2 hour each week and the rest of the grade levels for 1 hour each week. First and second graders saw me twice a week for a half hour each visit; we did math one day and language arts or science/social studies the other. Students LOVE to make things, and they love competition. So I found ways to set goals for each game and have plenty of projects for them to make. |
